The shape of our Live Sundays will be as follows:

At 10am, there will be a ‘Quiet Communion’ at our Homerton & Leyton locations. This will be a thirty-minute, socially-distanced communion service including times of reflection, readings, prayers, Holy Communion and church news.

Then at 11am, we’ll be running ‘Hackney Church Live’ at our Homerton, Leyton & Hackney locations. Hackney Church Live is a brand new, hour-long, socially-distanced informal service with live hosting, prayer, ministry times, during which we’ll join with Hackney Church Everywhere for teaching, worship, and church news.

Then at 6pm, we’ll be launching our evening ‘Hackney Church Live’ experience at our Homerton, Leyton & Hackney locations.

Hackney Church Live is going to be a hybrid version of Hackney Church Everywhere, with some elements on video, and others in person and live. And we think it’s going to be great fun.

We can’t wait to see you!

FAQ – Please Read

Please familiarise yourself with the information below before attending Hackney Church Live to ensure smooth running.

  • Tickets

Our capacity is going to be limited so we can create a safe and socially distanced experience. To ensure you get a seat, we’re going to require you to reserve a free ticket online before you come to church. You can book tickets for your family and friends, and you can book for your guests. We would just ask you only to book tickets you will use so someone else doesn’t miss out.

Doors open 15 minutes before the service begins. Due to the high level of demand, If you arrive after the service starts we reserve the right to give your ticket away.

You will be able to book your TICKETS online at hackney.church/live, or by telephone by calling +44 (0) 208 986 2241. If you have not reserved a seat, you can turn up on the day, but we can’t guarantee you admission. You will need to join a waiting list, register your details, and we’ll only be able to admit you if we have capacity in the building.

  • Touch-Free

When you arrive, the Hosting Crew will check you in, and usher you to your seat without you needing to touch any surfaces. All interactions and content will either be on a big screen or on your mobile device, including the Offering and Connect Cards.

  • Hygiene

We are going to be asking you to bring a face mask, and we’ll have spare ones available on arrival if you’ve forgotten yours, along with hand-sanitiser and sterile wipes. All surfaces will be sanitised between services, and toilets will only be available to use in emergencies. Of course if you’re ill, please don’t come to church. Instead, we ask that you let us know so we can confidentially track if there has been any risk of transmission.

  • Social Distancing

Seating will be arranged in accordance with the latest social distancing guidelines. Households and family units will be able to sit together as a bubble, and it’s really important that we respect this.
  • Families

Hackney Church Live is designed to be a live version of our online family-friendly experience, and as such is able to be enjoyed by the whole family. Children are welcome, but will be required to remain seated with their family at all times to ensure social distancing measures are respected, and we’re going to need your help with this. Parents and carers will be required to keep their children with them at all times.

  • Communion

For communion services, everyone will be offered a wafer which will be distributed in a hygienic way in accordance with strict protocols.

  • Worship

To prevent transmission, we will not initially be singing out loud when we gather, but rather looking to ‘sing and make music in our hearts’. While this may seem strange to many of us, worship is not just about singing – Romans 12 – ‘offer your bodies as living sacrifices’ it’s a chance to experience God’s love, to reflect, to meditate on him.

  • Prayer Ministry

We’re going to be making lots of space to receive the Holy Spirit together, to encounter God. We won’t be calling people forward for prayer, or laying hands on people like we usually do. Instead, you’ll be the ministry team! You’ll get to pray for yourself.

  • One-Way System

All locations will operate a one-way system of separate entrances and exits.

  • Attend With Your Connect Group

Connect Groups are encouraged to attend the same service, so speak to your Group leaders and find out which service they’re gathering at.

  • COVID-19 Symptoms

If you have been diagnosed with or experienced symptoms of COVID-19 you must not come to a Hackney Church Live service. Likewise, if you have been in close contact with someone diagnosed or experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 please stay at home. In addition, if you have returned from international travel or been in close contact with someone who has returned from international travel in the last 14 days please stay at home.

  • Access

We welcome anyone with accessibility requirements and will endeavour to accommodate any needs you may have. Please get in touch prior to your visit so we can make sure the necessary arrangements are made.
