Our vision is to bring hope to the heart of Hackney.
As the Anglican Parish Church of Hackney, we’ve served the people of East London since records began in 1275 AD. In September 2016, at the invitation of the Bishop of London, Al & Olivia Gordon planted out of HTB Church and were appointed to lead St John at Hackney Church, with a mandate to grow a City Centre Resource Church to serve Hackney and beyond. Then in September 2018, St John at Hackney partnered with nearby St Luke’s to birth Hackney Church and create a campus to serve the people of East London.
Today we are a diverse, dynamic and fast-growing church, meeting across multiple locations at our Hackney Central campus. In a typical week we care for over 800 people. We have been commissioned by the London Diocese to serve young people, train diverse leaders and plant churches in partnership with a network of friends.
There are loads of ways for you to get involved: we run Alpha and Connect Groups as well as Crews that support everything from our worship and creative ministries, to our Lighthouse Project that works with the vulnerable. We’re collaborating with John Pawson, Es Devlin and architects Thomas Ford & Partners to restore this much-loved Grade II* iconic church.
