Hackney Singers 1st April 2022Hackney Singers are presenting music that spans 270 years from the Baroque work of Handel which he composed when he was just 22 to the minimalist compositions of Arvo Pärt composed at the turn of this century. There performances will take place in the newly renovated 18th century Hackney Church.Arvo Pärt – Alleluia Tropus (choir and strings) Arvo Pärt – My Heart’s in the Highlands (Mezzo Soprano and Organ) Arvo Pärt – Fratres (Strings and Percussion) Arvo Pärt – Which was the son of…(choir) Handel – Dixit DominusThe selection of pieces by Arvo Pärt showcase his reverie of simplicity producing an atmosphere of heightened emotion. He wants his music to express ‘love for every note’. Handel’s Dixit Dominus is a showpiece for both singers and players alike. The demands that Handel makes on the choir are extremely testing. It’s an extraordinary tour-de-force, particularly for such a young composer and showcases some of Handel’s most elaborate, virtuoso choral writing.www.hackneysingers.org.uk
